Ask a Woodworker

I have a large quantity of hardwood flooring from some old house. I would like to use it to make a butcher block style work bench but have not been successful finding a pattern.

Finding a plan that used flooring materials will be difficult, if not impossible. I think your best bet is to learn more about workbench construction and then design and build exactly what you need, incorporating the flooring material. To this end we suggest a book by Lon Schleining – "The Workbench, A Complete Guide To Creating Your Perfect Bench"
